Catacombs

The Catacombs, burial places of  pagans first, then martyrs, christians and even popes. San Callisto and San Sebastiano along the Via Appia, the ancient Appia, the regina viarum, queen of all the roman roads and Santa Domitilla catacombs nearby offer an incredible example of former cemeteries outside the city walls.
